MITA WT Cloth Filters at Ecomondo 2025 for Environmental Sustainability

MITA Water Technologies (MITA WT), now part of the Axius Water group, is preparing to take part in Ecomondo 2025, the major international event for ecological transition. From November 4th to 7th, 2025, at the Rimini Exhibition Centre, we invite technical studios and engineers to visit our Stand 207. It will be an opportunity to discover our pile cloth filtration solutions for sustainable treatment of civil and industrial wastewater and to see a full-scale cloth filter.
Now in its 28th edition, Ecomondo confirms itself as an essential meeting point for industries, stakeholders, policymakers, opinion leaders, and the world of research and institutions. The event connects the key elements of the European Union’s environmental policy development strategies, offering an ideal opportunity to explore innovations, network, and participate in conferences that shape the future of the green and circular economy.
1. MITA WT Cloth Filters: Efficiency and Sustainability
At the heart of our exhibition will once again be our Pile Cloth Filters, MITA WT’s leading technology. These applications stand out for their high removal rates of Total Suspended Solids, achieving concentrations below 5 mg/l at discharge. This performance is due to the depth filtration of the loose fiber cloths, which combines the effectiveness of surface filtration typical of micromesh with that of sand filters.
Our filters ensure continuous operational process flow by gravity, with energy demand only during the backwash phase of the cloths, without interrupting filtration. Compared to other technologies, the need for reserve units is eliminated, and flexibility is ensured even with high and variable loads. Furthermore, compared to sand filters, they offer a very compact footprint, allowing for extremely compact installations.
The core of these systems are the free-fiber filter cloths, such as CLASSIC10 and ADVANCED10 (10 μm equivalent) or MICRO5 (5 μm equivalent), which thanks to their three-dimensional structure offer an high accumulation capacity for suspended solids and reduce backwash frequency. The low-pressure suction backwash system is fundamental for restoring the filtering capabilities of the cloths.
MITA WT offers various types of cloth filters to meet every need, including drum filters (TF – TF VM) for small capacities, vertical axis disc filters (PECV VM) for small and medium plants, and horizontal axis disc filters (PEC – PEC VM and PPC – PPC VM) for medium or large capacities, with flow rates up to 1,600 m³/h per unit.
2. Our Commitment to a Sustainable Water Future
MITA WT’s commitment to sustainability is perfectly aligned with the themes of Ecomondo and with the new European Directive 2024/3019, which will guide the water treatment market for the next 20 years. This directive places a strong emphasis on the removal of nutrients (phosphorus and nitrogen), micropollutants, microplastics, energy neutrality, and water reuse.
Our technologies readily respond to these challenges: pile cloth filters are essential for the removal of suspended solids and particulate phosphorus. Experiments with the University of Pavia have shown average removal efficiencies greater than 90% for TSS and 70% for particulate phosphorus, producing very high-quality water, ideal for reuse in industrial processes and agriculture. We are also conducting experiments with Politecnico di Milano for the removal of microplastics, with promising partial results.
The gravity filtration technology allows for reduced energy consumption, occurring exclusively during the backwash phase. The high nutrient removal performance enables water reuse, thus becoming an ideal solution in a circular economy perspective.
As part of Axius Water, starting from September 5, 2024, we share one goal: to minimize nutrient pollution and improve treated water quality. Axius Water removed over 450 million kg of nutrients in 2024 and uses 100% renewable energy for its operations in North America, an commitment that MITA WT adopts and promotes actively through the group’s sustainability document.
3. MITA WT alongside Engineers: Innovation and Support
MITA WT has always supported technical studios and engineers. We have demonstrated this with events like “Design with Us,” the Open Day dedicated to engineering firms held on May 26, 2025, at our Siziano headquarters. On that occasion, we shared know-how, production capabilities, and our technologies, strengthening relationships with our strategic partners. Our engineers have also contributed to FAST Ambiente Academy webinars, offering professional training credits and insights into advanced filtration and solutions for small plants.
To further simplify the work of professionals, our pile cloth filters are now available on the BIM databases as Skeinforce. Here, engineers and design studios can download the Revit files of the PEC, PECV, and PPC disc filters, complete with detailed technical drawings, product information, and 3D models, facilitating integration into plant designs.
We also offer pilot units for filtration or biological treatment tests to simulate real plant operating conditions and customized design to adapt to existing structures.
4. We Look Forward to Seeing You at Ecomondo 2025!
We therefore invite you to visit the MITA Water Technologies Stand 207 at Ecomondo, at the Rimini Exhibition Centre, from November 4th to 7th. It will be a unique opportunity to delve into the needs of industrial and civil water treatment, discover our real-scale applications on display, and meet our team of experts. We are ready to provide efficient systems for a sustainable water future.
With over 50 years of experience in the sector and proudly “Made in Italy” production, MITA WT, based in Siziano (Pavia), ensures rapid service throughout the national territory. The integration into the Axius Water group has further expanded our scope and technological portfolio, ensuring even greater reliability and innovation.
